Mareer Chowk tunnel project to be started soon

The Construction work on Mareer Chowk tunnel project would be started soon as the Punjab government has approved Rs 429 million grant for the project.
Earlier, the PC-I of the project was sent to the government for final approval and grant for the project, he said. Commissioner Rawalpindi Amdad Ullah Bosal talking to APP said that the work on the tunnel project would be started soon.
To a question he informed that work on the side roads of the Chandni Chowk Flyover project would be completed on Thursday (May 17). Earlier, the deadline of May 10 was given to the contractor for the completion of the roads but due to rains the side roads could not be completed. He further said that on the first phase of the mega project of Chur Chowk widening work has been started which would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 475 million. The work for widening of Peer Wadhai Mor would be started in second phase which would be completed with an estimated cost of Rs 1650 million.
Amdad Ullah Bosal said that with the special development funds from Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif under the city package various mega development projects had been completed while construction work on some projects is continuing and few projects are in the pipeline. He said that Flyover of Chandni Chowk had been completed with the cost of Rs.1.26 billion and the widening of Roads from both sides at Chur Chowk has been started. This Road would be made signal free.
Similarly, the underpass on Pirwedhai Mor to connect the traffic of G.T. Road from Taxila side with I J Principal Road would be started soon after the receiving of development funds from the government.
7-member Malaysian team visits religious ministry: A seven-member Malaysian delegation headed by Al Shaikh-Al Sayed Afifuddin Gilani Baghdadi on Wednesday visited the Ministry of Religious Affairs to have a first hand knowledge about the Hajj arrangements and other affairs related to the ministry.
Secretary Religious Affairs Chaudhary Muhammad Azam Samma briefed the delegation about the Hajj arrangements saying that about 90,000 faithfuls would perform Hajj under the government scheme this year while same number of faithfuls would also perform the sacred religious obligation under the private scheme.
The secretary told the delegation that in Pakistan the intending Hujjaj are selected under first come first serve basis. Al Shaikh Afifuddin said Hajj was an important religious obligation for Muslims. Pakistan is very important country and heart of Islam.
