Faculty member at the LUMS Department of Law and Policy Dr Osama Siddique has been invited to speak at the First Azim Premji University on international conference on law, governance and development, to be held at the university campus in Bangalore, India, on 18th and 19th of May.
The conference is being organised by the Law, Governance and Development Initiative (LGDI) of the university. The title of the conference is ‘Indian Legal System Reform: Empirical Baselines and Normative Frameworks’.
The Azim Premji University established the LGDI in 2010 to analyse the relationship between development and governance. The conference has been organised with the aim to promote informed debate on the central issues of legal system reform in India and seeks to reconnect the policy and academic engagements with judicial reforms by identifying key empirical baselines, methods and by revisiting the normative frameworks that should guide efforts towards reform of the Indian legal system.
