Grand cleanliness campaign concludes

Executive District Officer (EDO) Imtiaz Ahmed Malik has said that grand cleanliness campaign launched on April 26 to clean all Union Councils of Rawalpindi has concluded under which Municipal Services Department of City District Government cleaned 46 Union Councils.
Nearly 2800 tonnes garbage was lifted from all UCs of the city, he said and informed that 30 kilometers dirty water drain lines and small nullahs have also been cleared.
He urged the citizens to come forward and play their role to keep their areas neat and clean. Imtiaz Ahmed Malik told that solid waste, garbage and debris of demolished buildings were removed from a number of plots. The owners of several plots have also been issued final notices to construct boundary walls. He said that nine challans for throwing garbage in Nullah Lai have also been issued. Garbage collected during cleanliness campaign in various areas of the city has been lifted, he added.
UC no 35, Dosehra Ground, Mohalla Imambara and UC 45, Civil Lines were cleaned on Tuesday. He said that MNAs and MPAs including Malik Shakeel Awan, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, Shehriyar Riaz, Ziaullah Shah, Raja Muhammad Hanif Advocate and Malik Ghulam Raza visited different areas of the town and inspected cleanliness work progress during the campaign.
EDO thanked the public representatives for showing keen interest for the cleanliness of the city areas. He told that sanitary workers under the supervision of District Officer Solid Waste Dr Muzhar Azeem worked hard and tried to come up to the expectation of the citizens.
He said that Commissioner Rawalpindi Amdad Ullah Bosal and District Coordination Officer (DCO) Rawalpindi supervised the campaign and regularly guided the officials concerned so the targets set in this connection have been achieved. The EDO said that all out efforts would be made to make the city neat and clean.
Rs 20m spent on expansion of HFH emergency ward: Emergency ward of Holy Family Hospital (HFH) has been expanded and modern facilities at a cost of Rs 20 million have been provided in the ward for the provision of state-of-the-art medical facilities to the patients.
According to details, the 75 bedded emergency ward has been expanded and now 125 bedded emergency ward is available to the people with emergency medical treatment facilities. Funds for the project have been provided by philanthropists and the expansion work has been completed on self-help basis as a single rupee from government fund was not used in this project.
Director Emergency Holy Family Hospital, Dr Shafiq Sarwar told that out of 125 bedded facility, 20 beds have been allocated for children, 25 for ladies and remaining are for other patients while a special cardiac ward with six beds facility has also been set up where all facilities for the treatment of heart patients have been provided.
Every bed of the emergency ward has maximum facilities including oxygen he said. Now, emergency ward also has the CCU facility. He said that 1000 to 1500 outdoor patients daily visits who are provided all medicines free of cost and special instructions have also been issued to the doctors concerned that no patient should be asked to purchase medicine from market.
He said that the emergency ward also has laboratory and x-ray facilities besides 24 wash rooms have also been constructed for the emergency ward. He informed that now there is no shortage of doctors and nurses for the ward as new recruitment of seven doctors and 16 staff nurses has been made on the special instructions of Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan.
He said that technical and para-medical staff will also be recruited soon. Dr Shafiq Sarwar said that the emergency ward of Holy Family Hospital is fully equipped with most modern facilities Active staff would be available 24 hours for emergency medical services and it could be compared with any emergency ward of the developed countries hospitals.
