Another five perish in Karachi violence

Five people were killed and another five were injured overnight in different parts of the metropolis, officials said on Tuesday. According to police, a man named Rana Asif was shot dead in Baldia Town for resisting a robbery attempt, while Gulab Khan was killed in the Pirabad area of Frontier Colony. Police have termed Gulab’s killing a result of old enmity. In another incident, unidentified motorcyclists shot dead a chicken shop owner, Mukhtar Qureshi, in Liaquatabad Super Market. In Sohrab Goth area, unidentified persons shot dead Haji Hashim Khan, and injured Walayat Yousuf and Shaukat while they were sitting at a restaurant.
Hashim Khan was a member of the Mini Bus Association. In Janat Gul Town, 22-year-old Arif was killed during a brawl. In Landhi, two activists of a political party, Issa and Khurram, received bullet injuries while a police official was wounded by robbers near the Nursery area. Meanwhile, an over-speeding bus was overturned near Natha Khan Bridge in the city, injuring several passengers. According to rescue officials, the bus was overcrowded with passengers, and went out of driver’s control and turned over on Drig Road near Natha Khan Bridge. Several passengers were injured, while some were reported to be in critical condition. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the wounded to nearby hospitals.
