A person nabbed in a theft case by Veharri police died here at Shehzad Town police station as he was kept there till the completion of legal process essential for handing over any accused to another district’s police.
According to a police source, Zafar Kiyani, a resident of Pindorian, Islamabad, was wanted by Vehari police in a case under Section 380 of PPC. ASI Sarwar of Sadar police Vehari arrested him after informing Shehzad town police station and then he was brought back there till completion of legal process for shifting him to Vehari.
During his detention at Shehzad town police station, he expired as he was a patient of blood pressure. However, the Islamabad police high-ups have ordered an investigation to ascertain the real cause of death.
The police source said that real cause of his death could be ascertained after the postmortem report. Further investigation into the matter is underway, he added.
