The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) on Sunday extended its support to the Punjab government’s anti-quacks drive. MA leader Dr Salman Kazmi while talking to APP, said there were some 40,000 quacks who were running their clinics in the city. He alleged the quacks, who had been playing with lives of patients for years, were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people during the dengue epidemic last year. He demanded the Punjab Chief Minister to make operative the anti-quackery helpline set up four months back to eradicate quackery. The PMA leader also demanded a plan to end quackery and said doctors organizations should also be taken on board to eradicate quacks on a permanent basis.
