Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazlur Rehman) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has condemned the assassination of Maulana Aslam Sheikhupuri and urged the government to arrest his murderers. In a statement issued on Sunday, Rehman said that the murder of Sheikhupuri in broad daylight would create a sense of insecurity among ulema and other religious leaders. He said that brilliant people like Sheikhupuri are born in decades. Rehman urged his party members to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands.
