Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman on Sunday said warned that the nation should not be pushed to a limit where it started deciding the future course of action sans political leadership. Addressing a programme at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, Fazl said that the nation was always blackmailed through use of pressure and fear mongering. Urging the politicians, he asked them to indulge in politics of hope and not of fear and disappointment. He advised them to learn from past blunders. He lamented that Pakistan, instead being transformed into a welfare state over the past 64 years, was turned into an unsafe place. “The US has been blackmailing the country for the past 10 years, since it had no foreign policy (of its own),” he said, adding that the pressure had come from the US at a time when the next year’s budget was round the corner and Prime Minister had become ‘controversial’.
