Two killed; ‘target killer’ arrested

Two people were gunned down in the city on Saturday while an alleged target killer was arrested from the North Karachi area.
Police said unidentified assailants opened fire at a man in the Gulistan Jauhar area. The man was seriously injured and was shifted to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the deceased was not ascertained. In another incident, unidentified attackers shot dead a 32-year-old man identified as Faisal in the Khada Market area of Lyari.
Separately, a man was injured by the firing of unidentified suspects in Akhtar Colony. The wounded man was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi.
TARGET KILLER HELD: An alleged target killer identified by the police as Zafar alias Kaki was arrested on Saturday. Zafar was stated to be involved in killing of several political workers of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
SSP Central Asim Qaimkhani said that Sir Syed police had arrested Zafar during a search operation in North Karachi and a large number of weapons were also recovered. The suspect was wanted in several cases of robberies, murders and attempted murders, he added.
Qaimkhani said that the alleged target killer was nominated in the cases of killing six PPP workers.
