MALE STUDENTS: Boys congregate in the courtyard of the school. The female students aren’t allowed to have their picture taken because of an interpretation of the Quran that says they should be protected.
HIGHER EDUCATION: Students at the madrassa include those earning their doctorate in Quranic studies.
