England captain Andrew Strauss was out for just two on Thursday in his final match before next week’s first Test against the West Indies at Lord’s.
The left-handed opener was caught behind off Harry Gurney as Middlesex made 51 for three in reply to Nottinghamshire’s 423 featuring 162 from Michael Lumb, a member of the England side that won the 2010 World Twenty20 in the Caribbean.
Strauss, who is likely to have one more knock at Trent Bridge as there are two days left in the game, will returns to Lord’s, his Middlesex home ground, hoping to improve on a poor recent record of just one hundred in his last 50 Test innings.
