Lawyers across country to observe black day today

The Pakistan Bar Council has appealed to the legal fraternity across the country to observe today (Saturday) as black day in condemnation of the violence incident of May 12, 2007 in Karachi. Akhtar Hussain, vice chairman and PBC Executive Committee Chairman Burhan Moazzam Malik have requested the members of bar and other civil societies to observe countrywide black day to condemn the tragic incident in which a large scale of killing of innocent citizens occurred and a number of lawyers burnt alive in their offices on May 12, 2007.
The lawyers, while observing black day would also hoist black flags at the offices and hold meetings of their respective bar associations for urging the authority to probe into the matter. Supreme Court Bar Association President Yaseen Azad, in consultation with the executive committee, also appealed to the legal fraternity throughout Pakistan to observe the black day.
