Terming the federal government as illegal, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Friday that after the verdict of the apex court, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has no authority to continue his duties according to the constitution and law of the country.
Addressing a laptop distribution ceremony at the Fatimah Jinnah Women University in Rawalpindi, the CM said when PM Gilani arrived in London during his visit a British newspaper wrote a story that mentioned that an indicted Pakistani PM had arrived in Britain, adding that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will never allow the illegal government to run the country’s affairs.
Corrupt leaders were ruling the country due to which Pakistan is being termed as the most difficult and challenging country to be ruled in the world, the Punjab CM said, adding that the inept policies of the rulers have brought the country to the verge of bankruptcy. He said the government has become a silent spectator as innocent people are killed in the drone strikes in tribal areas.
“Everyday news about robbery and target killings are reported in the media and banks are plundered on a daily basis,” Shahbaz said.
He added that we as a nation had wasted 64 years since the creation of the country, saying that lawlessness is prevailing in the country and terrorists were killing innocent people.
Shahbaz said the Punjab government was distributing laptops among the competent students of the Fatimah Jinnah University from its own resources, saying that the roadmap of Pakistan is in the distribution of the laptops.
He stated that the N-League has a formula to bring the country at par with the developed countries, in spite of the prevailing challenges, claiming that his party will make Pakistan a prosperous country. He added that the energy crisis could be overcome easily by utilising the coal resources which are in abundance in the country.
Announcing a package for the construction of a hostel, Shahbaz said the administration of the university had demanded Rs 20 billion for the construction of the hostel, adding that his reply to the officials concerned was that they should spend Rs 22 billion on the construction of the hostel as the students must be provided with the facility at any cost.
