The Punjab AG Office Accountant General has stopped the salaries of the doctors working at the Punjab Institute of Blood Transfusion Services who serve in blood banks across the province.
YDA office bearers Dr Rana Sohail, Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Talha Sherwani, Dr Ghulam Qasim, Dr Murtaza Bloch, Dr Muhammad Khawar Khan, Dr Shahid Dreshik, Dr Waqas Gondal, Dr Shehzad, Dr Asim, Dr Shams, Dr Muhammad Azhar and Dr Muhammad Amjad have strongly protested at the non-payment of salaries of the doctors who have been working at the institute without pay for two months.
On enquiry, the clerks at the department told the doctors that the funds earmarked for their salaries had finished and that the payment of salaries would not be possible till July 2012.
The YDA has stated that if the salaries are not released within the next five days, the association will be forced to protest by organising a sit-in outside the AG office.
The YDA also appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister to ensure that the salaries are released.
