Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Thursday arrived at the Kingri House where he was received by Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) chief Pir Sadruddin Shah Rashdi and other party leaders.
The CM and PML-F chief discussed the current political situation of the country. They also talked about the differences between the Functional League and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) due to some misunderstandings over a statement.
It was decided that both parties would jointly work for strengthening democracy in the country, while any issues faced by Sindh would be amicably resolved.
Talking to the media later, the CM said that he had come to pay his respects to the PML-F chief who is the current Pir Pagara. He said Pagara is “our elder and our coalition partner”.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Pagara possess a working relationship under a mutual understanding, he added.
With regard to the controversial statement, the CM said that the matter has been clarified. Misunderstandings sometimes create differences, but there is no such situation here, he added.
He said that the misunderstandings have been resolved and both parties would work together. Efforts of miscreants would be foiled in the interest of the province, he added.
He maintained, “We shall not leave each other. Mutual understanding and joint efforts between both parties will continue, while collective efforts will be enhanced for the betterment, development and progress of Sindh.”
With regard to the public meeting of a political party in Lyari, the CM said, “We can also organise a public meeting in Lyari any time, and the people of Lyari will be notified of it when we do it.”
He said that the affected people of Lyari would be compensated. He clarified that no operation is being carried out in Lyari, but the police are only conducting raids against criminals.
The PML-F chief also made it clear that his party has no differences with the government and that “we will continue to work with the present government like brothers”.
He announced that the PML-F would continue to provide its full support to the present government and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani.
The meeting was also attended by PML-F leader and Adviser to CM Imtiaz Shaikh, Principal Secretary to CM Agha Jan Akhtar and others.
