All departments of the Punjab government will be computerised under the IT promotion project by the end of the current fiscal year.
Official sources told APP on Thursday, that the government was attaching high priority to information technology and had introduced its IT policy in collaboration with the World Bank.
IT is a vital sector and without making commendable progress we cannot compete with other countries, they said.
Sources maintained that Punjab IT Board had already been computerised along with seven other departments that included the agriculture, anti-corruption, social welfare, Punjab employees’ social security, special branch and the Punjab highway patrolling post, while the rest will be computerised.
Sources added that since its inception, the board has imparted training to 40,000 people in various IT sections.
They maintained that the IT department had successfully accomplished schemes like the Internal Displacement Funds and Motor Transport Management Information System.
