India’s Supreme Court on Thursday allowed Pakistani scientist Dr Khalil Chishti to leave for Pakistan on humanitarian grounds. The court however ordered Chishti to return to India in November for court appearance. Chishti, who has been languishing in Indian prisons for 20 years, was arrested on murder charges during his visit to Ajmer in 1992. President Asif Ali Zardari had taken up the issue with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his day-long visit to the country. Talking to media, the Pakistani virologist said that he was thankful to the Indian apex court.
