Beelines at CNG stations mark city scene each Thursday

The early hours of every Thursday witness beelines of vehicles at CNG stations as motorists continue to flock to the stations till late afternoon as filling stations in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal and Guranwala resume their operations after a 72-hour closure.
Long queues of public transport vehicles and private cars were seen at CNG stations outside the metropolitan city as well.
Coupled with the long duration of electricity loadshedding, CNG suspension has now become a regular feature of public life.
Citizens exert more efforts, while paying extra to reach their workplaces, educational institutions and other destinations on time. Muhammad Islam, a trader, said he had no option other than using petrol for commuting, adding that it translated into little or no savings.
A worker at a CNG station said some rickshaw drivers had found a novel way to start Thursday. Many parked their three wheelers, in queues at the CNG filling stations late Wednesday night and slept close by, saving themselves the effort of waiting in long queues.
Responding to the situation, some citizens said it was not affordable for every citizen to use petrol or diesel or to convert their vehicles to these fuels.
Shumaila, a school teacher, expressed similar views and appealed for relief to be provided to the masses.
