Reference for PM’s disqualification filed in ECP

A reference against Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani was submitted in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday, seeking his disqualification from premiership and the assembly. Chaudhry Mureed Hussain advocate and Aftab Ahmed Bajwa advocate moved the references in the ECP, saying that Gilani was convicted by the Supreme Court therefore according to constitution he was ineligible for holding any official post.
The petitioners giving reference of a case of Mian Najeeb Owaisi and Malik Amir Yar Warren said that any citizen could send reference to ECP against a convicted member of assembly instead of only speaker of National Assembly. They urged the ECP to accept reference and order to disqualify Yousaf Raza Gilani’s as MNA. They also urged the ECP to order stopping work being done by the PM till finial decision of reference was not issued by ECP.

  1. Why do we have to get him disqualified? Can we not just hang him and then payoff a judge to free the killer? It'll be quicker and cheaper 🙂

  2. Let all the judges be hanged in public for their legally fallible judgement. Never ever any judge wrote a dissenting note to just corroborate a judgement of the bench he is a member. This is what Justice Asif Khosa did. A unique event in judicial history anywhere In Pakistan Judiciary and the media want power-sharing. Judges r playing power politics thru their judgements to creat a situation where they can find a way into corridores of power. Power politics in modern states is a domain of political parties, not judiciary, media, army or mullahs. If they start struggle for power sharing, governance will suffer and writ of the state will diminsh, and that is the experience of last 4 years, and even before that; since 1980ies.
