The Lahore Region Cricket Association will organise the first LRCA U16 Sayid Paper Cricket League by the end of the current month to re-launch its efforts for strengthening the base of the game by identifying new talent. This was stated by President LRCA Khawaja Nadeem Ahmad at a news conference here on Wednesday along with sponsors of the tournament, Aizad Hussain Syed, Chief Executive SPM. Also present were Vice President LRCA Imran Bucha and treasurer Sarfraz Ahmad. Kh Nadeem said it will be the first U16 tournament which LRCA is being organized to address the cause of early level of cricket which was badly neglected in the past. He praised the contribution of the sponsors and termed their joining of LRCA a step forward to revive cricket at grass root level. “Aizad Ssyed is a well-known cricket organizer and a patron and his services for the cause of cricket in Lahore are known to every one,” said the LRCA Chief. Aizad Syed while unfolding the details of the tournament said six teams, two each from with affiliated zone of LRCA, will compete in the event which will continue for three weeks. “Each Zone will select its two teams through a transparent way by selecting deserving players and we are optimistic that through this event we will be able to unearth a pool of talented players for their grooming for future needs,” he said. Aizad Syed assured his all out support for the revival of cricket and said he is delighted to be a part of LRCA which is striving to put cricket at the right path.
