Pakistan cricket team head Coach Dav Whatmore has praised skipper Misbah-ul-Haq saying he is a good thinker that ideally suits to the leadership position he occupies. “Misbah is a big thinker and has a very solid personality. He doesn’t go to extremes. He is very stable in his outlook,” a website quoted Dav as saying. Dav said Misbah doesn’t get carried away too much when the team lose or win.
“Being a good thinker it really helps him from a leadership point of view. His (Misbah) communication’s is always positive and that is a very good thing,” Dav said.
Misbah took over the test captaincy from Salman Butt in 2010, and officially became captain for all formats in mid 2011, when Shahid Afridi was let go after a spat with the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Misbah led the side successfully in series against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, and the series in the UAE got off to a superb start after Pakistan managed to whitewash England (currently ranked at the top on the ICC’s Test team rankings) 3-0 in the Test series.
With Dav’s backing, Misbah’s post appears fairly secure, and the skipper will be leading the Men in Green as they prepare for a tour of Sri Lanka in June.
