Style sans borders: Pakistani fashion stands tall at Lifestyle Pakistan

Between 12th to 15th April, hall number 18 of the Pragati Maidan became host to what could never have been imagine before. Lifestyle Pakistan was welcomed whole heartedly by the government, media and public of India. Over a hundred top Pakistani brands and approximately 650 delegated participated in this very high profiled event initiated by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan. The historic event was the result of the continual struggle between the two countries aiming to improve trade ties. A ‘Made in India’ exhibit of about 125 companies was brought by the Indian Trade and Commerce Minister nand Sharma to Pakistan in February which paved the way for the biggest Pakistani commercial exhibition on Indian soil. The participating designers included Sahar Atif of Saai, Faiza Sami, Honey Waqar and Asim Jofa. The 4 day exhibit saw a tremendous turnout of Indian customers all trying to grab their share of something Pakistani for either their wardrobes or homes. The event also included a glamorous evening of runway shows attended by Delhi’s elite and dignitaries from both the countries. Brands like ChenOne styled by Sahar Atif, Gul Ahmed, Kayseria, Rang Ja, Saai by Sahar Atif, Honey Waqar, Faiza Sami and many more swept the audience off their feet with their breathtaking collections. Particularly noticable was ChenOne’s collection ‘Pareesa’ styled by Sahar Atif which awed the audience with Bollywood’s new blue boy Ali Zafar with a ‘dhol’ around his next making Delhi dance to the beat of ‘Madhubala’. A heart warming musical evening with Sanam Marvi and Ali Zafar saw Delhites ‘Jhoom’ long after the event was over.
