CID SP gunned down in Quetta

A Superintendent of Police Crime Investigation Department (CID), Shah Nawaz Khan, was gunned down in Quetta’s Satellite Town on Tuesday. According to details, Shah Nawaz came out of his residence for morning walk when some unidentified gunmen sprayed bullets on him. As a result, the SP died on the spot. The miscreants fled the scene soon after the assault. The deceased received nine gunshot injuries. According to police sources, the assailants were riding motorcycles.
“Two young persons were riding a motorcycle and one of them opened fire on him. They escaped and he succumbed to his injuries before medical help could arrive,” provincial police chief Rao Amin Hashim told AFP. The police chief said it was not immediately clear who was responsible. “He was posted in CID and was investigating many important cases. So I can’t really say at this time who the killers were,” Hashim said. Other police officials in Balochistan have said they have been threatened by al Qaeda-linked militant group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, which has orchestrated violent attacks on minority Shias and claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s killing. “He (Khan) was actively engaged against us. We will not spare those who kill our people,” a spokesman for the group said late Tuesday.
