APCC to recommend Rs.775b dev budget

The Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) will meet on Thursday and is expected to recommend Rs.775 billion development budget to National Economic Counsel (NEC) for next financial year starting from July 1, 2012.
Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Dr. Nadeem ul Haq will preside the meeting and it would attended by provincial ministers for Planning and Development and federal and provincial finance secretaries.
The committee is expected to fix and recommend next fiscal year’s Public Sector Development Programme at Rs 300 billion for the centre and Rs.475 billion for the Provinces,” said the official.
The Planning Commission is currently running 1,252 projects which have a total cost of Rs2.83 trillion, however the local allocations for this fiscal year amounts to Rs253.5 billion, whereas funding amounting to Rs36.5 billion would be provided from foreign aid.
The federal government, for current fiscal year 2011-12, has set for Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) Rs730 billion which is ten percent more than last year’s PSDP of Rs663 billion.
Out of Rs730 billion includes federal development outlay of Rs290 billion which is four percent higher than the 2010-11 allocation of Rs280 billion and Rs10 billion have been earmarked for ERRA and Rs430 billion for provincial Annual Development programmes. An amount of Rs373 billion were earmarked in 2010-11 for the provinces to be spent through their Annual Development Programmes.
