The Senate was informed on Tuesday that the textile industry was worst affected during the last four years with 40,000 power looms converting to scrap and 10,000 partially closing, collectively leaving more than 100,000 labourers unemployed.
Textile Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin informed the House that power outages, rising power tariff, unavailability of raw material, large amounts of losses in businesses and increase in the costs had been the key reasons behind the crisis.
