Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s counsel Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan on Tuesday said there were more mistakes in the detailed verdict of the Supreme Court than in the short order issued on April 26, Dawn News reported.
Ahsan criticised the detailed judgment of the apex court in the contempt of court case against the prime minister issued on Tuesday. “I am not satisfied with the verdict,” he added.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) legal wizard vowed to present concrete evidence before the court once the prime minister files an appeal against the verdict. He said the judges should not have exceeded limits over the issue of ethics and morality. “There are more mistakes made in the detailed verdict to overcome the previously made mistakes in the short order,” said the premier’s counsel.
Ahsan pointed out that several “leads” have been found in the detailed verdict which would help in appealing against it. The counsel prohibited himself from further commenting on the verdict however he said that short orders could not be issued in criminal trials.

  1. Who wants to tie rope around his neck? Maybe we should have lottery for that 🙂

  2. Don't expect Mr. Aitzaz to put a strong line of defence for Mr. PM; he was after all paid just Rs.100/= & this meager amount couldn’t have give him any better mileage than that!

  3. Here's our chance to get aitzaz also. His statements can be construed as contempt of court. Its one thing to disagree with the verdict. Its totally another to imply that they are incompetent and are making mistakes. Take his law license away and see how quickly he drops to the bottom. Just like babar awan 🙂

  4. I don't think its wise in putting all blame on Aitzaz. He may be wrong being unpatriotic to the country he belong. In a free democratic society like Pakistan why should anybody including Aitzaz be cursed for making his personal choice, so let it be.Instead he opted to defend the PM and the party he is associated with. Some even give him credit for atleast being loyal to the party in a country where even blooded brothers are not faithful to each other.I personally think that Aitzaz as a barrister is doing a very good job and that is exactly what any professional barrister would do to protect his client no matter even if he is an accused murderer.

    • Well, believe it or not, I have no links with Aitzaz whatsoever.Rather I have
been one of his most vocal critics till I read this headline,"More mistakes in detailed verdict than in short order: Aitzaz" which made me change my mind and saying something different about him.Let me say it explicitly for one good reason I admire his courage as a professional lawyer who knows how to defend his client .This is what good advocacy is all about. You may call it sycophancy but I feel no shame in giving credit even to a scorn enemy where he deserves.

    • Why not? Why Justice is only the satisfaction of one party….In a democratic country counsels must have right to amend judgments………..Is he Aitzaz; the same guy of lawyers movement? How come?

    • Very good idea. This is the only solution that will satisfy Aitzaz and his masters. may be not – they may still create fuss about things like: the paper on which the verdict was wriiten was not 30% cotton, it was not 98% white, the pen did not had diamonds embedded into it, the ink was not made of gold, etc ….
