Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has urged the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to resolve trucks parking issue on priority basis. “The authority should allocate proper place for trucks parking in the federal capital because the existing place was insufficient for this purpose,” Shahid Zaman Shinwari, acting vice president of ICCI, said during a meeting with a delegation of the trucks association here on Tuesday.
Shahid Zaman said that the ICCI has already raised parking issue in a meeting with the CDA chairman, at which it was discussed that a plot of 40×80 sq yds should be provided on lease to transporters where they would establish truck stand with their own resources while CDA could charge half rent till the completion of the facility.
He said that an efficient transportation system is vital for trade, commerce and national integration.
Trucks provide a mode of transportation and facilitate goods forwarding in a well-organized way, he added.
The ICCI acting vice president said that the CDA was receiving million of rupees from trucking business. Therefore, it is imperative to allocate a sufficient place for trucks, he emphasised.
The delegates expressed their concern and said that there were so many security issues which they were facing while parking trucks at common places. They demanded the CDA cooperate with them in this matter and allocate a sufficient place for truck parking to avoid further inconvenience.
