Insufficient bogies irk railway passengers

Passengers have protested against the low number of train bogies at the Lahore-Narowal section and demanded that trains should consist of at least six bogies.
Talking to APP on Monday, Shabbir Ahmed, a daily commuter, said the trains were running with only three bogies at the section, creating trouble for passengers, especially for women and children.
He said more coaches should be added as the railway services were improving.
Rana Shahid Abbas, another passenger, said the shortage of coaches had created problems for the passengers, adding that in some areas, trains were the only means of transport available.
He said the coaches could only seat 88 passengers and that the whole train could only seat 200 people. He stated that despite the lack of space, some 2,000 passengers traveled by each train.
Passengers demanded that at least six bogies should be attached to each train so that passengers, including women and children, could travel comfortably.
When contacted, PR Divisional Superintendant Javed Anwar Boobak said bogies will be added soon as many were being repaired in workshops.
He stated that many trains’ compositions had improved and that the reservations of the passengers will be removed.
