During the hearing, LHC Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed remarked that the case “should not be politicised as it was of an administrative nature as opposed to a political one”. The deputy attorney general told the court that no one could be disqualified on the basis of a short order and the PM was legitimately working as the country’s prime minister.

The court adjourned the hearing till May 11 and issued summons for Attorney General Irfan Qadir for the upcoming proceedings.
HAFIZ SAEED HEAD MONEY CASE HEARING ADJOURNED: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed has taken serious notice of the failure of the Interior Ministry to file a reply in a case relating to the announcement of a reward by the United States for Hafiz Saeed and Hafiz Abdul Rehman Maliki.
The court held a hearing in the case on Monday during which the Punjab government submitted its reply.
The LHC Chief justice remarked that the announcement of a bounty for the two people was a very sensitive and serious matter and questioned if the Interior Ministry will take five years to submit its reply.
The Deputy Attorney General said the Interior Ministry has not completed the reply yet and requested the adjournment of the proceedings for two weeks. At this the chief justice warned the government lawyer that the reply must be filed before the next hearing.
Counsel for the petitioner, Dogar repeated in his arguments that it has been held by the Lahore High Court and the Supreme Court that the allegations against Hafiz Mohammad Saeed were baseless.
He said the government has also admitted that no allegation could be proved against Hafiz Saeed. He submitted that it was the duty of the government to provide production to Hafiz Saeed.
Punjab Additional Advocate General informed the court that if a formal application was given, the Punjab government would be ready to provide him the necessary protection.
The hearing was then adjourned till 21st May.
