Railways on Sunday won the 2nd PHF U-21 Girls Hockey Championship title beating title-favourites Wapda by one goal here at the National Hockey Stadium. In a battle of nerves, Railways held its one goals supremacy in tact till the final whistle to lay their hands at the glittering trophy. Kalsoom of Railways provided Railways the much-needed lead in the fifth minute of the match and that solitary goals edge proved to be a decision-maker as they kept a strong defence for full 70 minutes play. Despite several attacks from both sides the score remained the same and ultimately Railways lifted the trophy. Dr Sabia Mansoor, Vice Chancellor Lahore College for Women University was the chief guest of the final match and gave the prizes to the winners and best players of the tournament. Aqsa Mumtaz of Railways team was the best player of the tournament while Mayira Sabir also of Railway turned out to be the top scorer and Samia Anwar of Punjab Whites was the best goalkeeper. The 3rd position trophy went to Punjab Colours, WAPDA got the runner up.
