LHC adjourns hearing of petition against PM

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday heard a petition seeking to stop Yousuf Raza Gilani from working as prime minister.
During the hearing, Chief Justice LHC Sheikh Azmat Saeed remarked that the case “should not be politicised as it was of an administrative nature as opposed to a political one”.
According to a private TV channel, the deputy attorney general said that no one could be disqualified on the basis of a short order and that Gilani was legitimately working as the country’s prime minister.
Responding to which, petitioner A K Dogar’s counsel said, “anyone who understands the law knows that Yousuf Raza Gilani stands disqualified from the position of prime minister.”
The court subsequently adjourned the petition’s hearing to May 11 and issued summons for Attorney General Irfan Qadir for the upcoming proceedings.
