Junior Asia Cup: India hold Pakistan 2-2

Pakistan on Sunday let the match slip away to India when they were held to a 2-2 draw in the Junior Men’s Asia Cup Hockey Tournament being played at the MBM Hockey Stadium here Sunday. Pakistan which earned 1-0 win against china in its opening match, face India at Malacca, Malaysia in their second encounter of the event. The goal scorers for Pakistan were Mohammad Dilber (5th minute) and Mohammad Irfan (39th minute) while Amit Rohidas (penalty corner 25th minute) and skipper Akashdeep Singh (61st minute) scored for India. Pakistan took the lead in the fifth minute with Dibler’s strike, after which India pressed hard and got the equaliser 20 minutes later through a penalty corner converted by Rohidas. The score was tied 1-1 at halftime. Pakistan took a 2-1 lead in the 39th minute courtesy Irfan. India fought back strongly with skipper Akashdeep scoring in the 61st minute. Earlier, China defeated Sri Lanka 5-0 in the tournament. Pakistan will play against Sri Lanka in its third match on May 7 at 1505 hours (PST).
