Army on Monday won the National U-22 Football Championship-2012 that concluded at Bahawalpur. Armay scored two goals and blanked Muslim Football Club in the final payed at the Dring Football Stadium, Bahawalpur. It was their forward Rehan Ali who brought win for Army by converting both the goals. Their first goal came just before the first half and the second before the close of the game. Rehan hit the opener on the 41 minute and the second in the 87 minute. Lt Col (Retd) Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi TI (M), Secretary PFF, Syed Abid Hussain Qadri (Regional Police Officer Bahawalpur) and Sheikh Iqbal-ur-Rehman (President DFA Bahawalpur) were among the guests and distributed the prizes among the winners and other best performers. In all 20 matches were played during this event which was participated by 12 teams, including Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Army, KPT, Muslim FC (Chaman), Baloch FC (Noushki), PMC Athlitico FC (Faisalabad) and Wohaib FC (Lahore). The bronze medal went to Sindh Football Team with the winners Army team pocketed Rs 150,000 and Muslim Club received Rs 100,000. PMC Athletico FC won the Fair Play trophy with Rs 20,000 while the third position team Sindh received Rs 75,000 Adnan Ahmed of Army was the best goalkeeper, Saeed Ahmed of Muslim Club wzas the best player and Mujahid Ali of PMC Club was the highest goal scorer and all these players were given Rs 10,000 each. Shahid Hussain of Okara was the best referee and earned Rs 15,000 his best assistant referee turned out to be Irshad-ul-Haq of From Sheikhupura and he got Rs 10,000.
