Liberation leader in occupied Kashmir Javed Ahmad Mir has welcomed the statements of Amnesty International, United Nations and Britain on Kashmir dispute.
Javed Ahmad Mir was addressing a public gathering in Srinagar to pay homage to the martyrs and express solidarity with all the illegally detained Hurriyet leaders and activists, KMS reported. He stressed the need to hold a meaningful dialogue process between Pakistan and India to resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute, adding that it was the right time for settling the dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
Javed Mir also urged the pro-India political parties to tell New Delhi to find a peaceful solution to the dispute.
No post will be removed from IHK, says Indian army: The Indian Army in occupied Kashmir has said that none of their posts will be removed from any part of the Kashmir Valley. The General Officer Commanding 15 Corps, Lt General S A Hasnain in a media interview said, “We are not removing any post from anywhere in the Valley,” KMS reported.
A large number of Army camps were established in every nook and corner of the Valley to suppress the liberation movement after it was intensified by the Kashmiri people in 1989. These camps were located in schools, hospitals and other government buildings. Some of the schools and hospitals were vacated after the puppet administration provided the troopers with alternative accommodation. However, force personnel have so far occupied many official buildings in the territory. Pertinently, the statement of S A Hasnain has com. at a time when the puppet Chief Minister of occupied Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, has recently advocated reduction of army presence in the territory.
PPP HR cell welcomes NCHR Bill: Members of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) rights body have welcomed the unanimous approval of the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) Bill, 2012 in the National Assembly and termed it a success for the human rights movement in the country. Central Coordinator, MNA Nafisa Shah, General Secretary Sheikh Mansoor and members MNAs Robina Qaimkhani, Zile Huma, MPA Shazia Tamas and Shahjehan Sarfaraz welcomed this move, and hoped that this Bill would lead to the creation of a high level, independent, rights based organization.
“This government has initiated and the Parliament has passed some landmark legislations, which have strengthened the rights agenda in the country. If followed by proper implementation, this would adequately take note of violations of fundamental rights, providing mechanisms for redressal at the highest level.” said the Central Coordinator Nafisa Shah. The PPP Human Rights Cell Members decided to undertake fact-finding visits in the field on cases of human rights violations and prepare reports for the Party leadership with their recommendations.
Stable Afghanistan is in Pakistan’s interest: Information Minister of the KPK Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that stable Afghanistan is in Pakistan’s interest while weak Afghanistan would be center of problems. Talking to VOA, he said that Afghanistan-US strategic agreement is not new development because US has been staying in Afghanistan since long. However, we should keep in mind that stable Afghanistan is in our own interest.
He said that US already has been existing in Afghanistan under UN’s resolution working together with NATO. It may be recalled US will support Afghanistan in financial and military sectors for ten years under the strategic pact after withdrawal, he added.
Expressing reaction over Kabul-Washington strategic pact, he said that Afghanistan should be allowed to decide its affairs according to its own will as it is an independent state. In response to a question KPK Minister for Information Iftikhar Hussain said that Afghanistan has no need of outside dictation as it is sovereign country. He said that Afghanistan should decide its own affairs and be allowed to move toward peace.
Media main pillar of state: PAL chairman: Media has become one of the main pillars of any state and the journalists should learn and practice their skills keeping in view antiquates of journalism.
This was stated by Abdul Hameed, Chairman Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) in a meeting with students of media department of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST), Islamabad during their visit to PAL. “It is the duty of journalists to focus on views objectively and impartially without taking any specific position” he added. During their tour to PAL, the students visited the different sections of the institute. Students requested PAL to guide them in getting aquatics with present literary scenario so that it can be useful in their profession. Chairman PAL, Abdul Hameed encouraged the students and assured them of any possible help for PAL. Muhammad Asim Butt, Director PAL was also present in the meeting. Director PAL also briefed the students about the working of PAL.
