Rescue 1122 celebrate Int’l Firefighters’ Day


The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) on Friday staged a flag march and different awareness programmes to celebrate the International Firefighter Day.
The flag march started from Muslim Town Morr and ended at the Emergency Services Academy on Ferozpur Road after passing through Mozang Chungi, Chauborgi, Town Hall, Mall Road, Jail Road, Main Boulevard and Kalma Chowk.
The march was organised to pay homage to firefighters and to educate people about fire safety and make them aware of the efforts put in by firefighters.
PES Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer congratulated the citizens on the celebrations of the Rescuers and Firefighters’ Day said rescue and firefighting is a noble profession and rescuers are known as the heroes of the society.
He paid tribute to all rescuers and firefighters, who sacrificed their lives in the line of their duties and promised a comprehensive, professional and effective management of the service.
The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has established modern fire services and disaster emergency response teams in Pakistan during a limited time.
Rescue 1122 has rescued over 134, 3358 victims of different emergencies, which includes more than 32, 332 fire incidents and saved Rs 92 billion worth of financial losses.
The director general said it is our obligation to respect firefighters and paid tribute to all rescuers and firefighters who enter burning buildings and risk their lives to save others.
