Hike in grocery prices rejected

Traders’ unions and general stores associations have rejected price list issued by the district management, demanding decrease in prices of grocery items in the open market.
These unions have demanded the management reschedule the meetings of price control committees and fix new rates of grocery or supply the grocery items to merchants at their doorsteps.
They said the management is not controlling wholesale retailers as they are selling grocery according to their own price lists. They added that in the open market the rates of different grocery items are comparatively high.
