Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has directed the Home Department to declare all examination centres “protected areas” and to take necessary security measures for all the examination centres across the province.
CM’s Principal Secretary Agha Jan Akhtar said this while presiding over a meeting held at the CM House to discuss the annual examinations of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Intermediate) that are going to be conducted throughout the province.
The meeting was attended by Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Hyderabad Chairman Prof Abdul Aleem Khanzada, BISE Hyderabad Controller of Examinations Wasi Raza Abidi, Hyderabad Division Commissioner Ahmed Bux Narejo, Mirpurkhas Division Commissioner Ghulam Hussain Memon, Hyderabad Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sanaullah Abbasi, Mirpurkhas Police DIG Ghulam Haider Jamali, Culture Director General Waheed Shaikh, Cooperative Societies Registrar Dr Azhar, CM’s Special Secretary Nazar Muhammad Bozdar, CM’s Additional Secretary Bilal Memon and others.
Akhtar said that a databank of all invigilators should be prepared for those who took part in the annual examinations of the Secondary School Certificate (Matriculation).
He ordered taking disciplinary action against those invigilators whose involvement was found in misconduct, impersonation, copying cases and other irregularities.
He warned that severe action would be taken against employees involved in illegal acts, and major penalty could be imposed upon them and cases could be processed for their removal from service.
The participants of the meeting were informed that the annual examinations of Intermediate are being held from May 5 (tomorrow) in Karachi and from May 7 (Monday) in the rest of the province, whereas chairmen of all the boards would hold all powers of internal control.
Commissioners, deputy commissioners, and police DIGs and other officers were asked to ensure complete implementation of Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, and violating the ban on using mobile phones during examinations would result in forfeiture of the phones.
It was decided that no interference would be allowed and any invigilator or student who is found to be involved in any irregularity would be dealt accordingly.
Akhtar said that a meeting was held with the Karachi Electric Supply Company whose management has assured the provincial government that the supply of electricity during examinations would be improved.
The Hyderabad commissioner said that a meeting with the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company authorities also resulted in assurances by the power company of improved electricity supply during examinations.
The board managements were asked to extend all support to the commissioners and deputy commissioners who would supervise the conducting of the annual examinations.
