The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Thursday announced an increase in power tariff for four months and issued a notification regarding the tariff hike under the monthly fuel adjustment formula.
According to the notification, the hike in prices was announced for the months of October, November, December 2011 and January 2012. The increase per unit for October is Rs 2.13, for November Rs 1.17, for December Rs 0.86 and for the month of January 2012 Rs 1.87 per unit.
The power distributing companies would collect the payments from consumers in the bills for July and August 2012. NEPRA had stopped raising the power tariff during the proceedings in Lahore High Court after a petition was filed against the hikes.
The NEPRA has directed the power companies to collect payments in bills in the light of the LHC orders, while the consumers who consume 50 units would be unaffected from the hike in prices.
