Lyari operation enters day eight

The operation against criminal elements in Lyari continued for the eighth day as clashes between the security forces and miscreants continued on Friday.
The South Zone policemen have also arrived in the area to assist in the on-going operation.
According to police, the operation is being conducted against the criminal elements in Lyari but so far no major progress has been reported as criminals are using latest weapons, including hand grenades and rocket launchers, against the security personnel.
Police is facing severe resistance in the on-going battle that has claimed more than 27 lives including policemen while more than 60 have been wounded so far.
As the situation deteriorated in the area, local residents were forced to migrate to safer areas. Police have claimed that they have taken control of several areas despite resistance at Afshani Gali, Gabol Park and some other areas where they could not advance.
Protesters demonstrated against the operation in Lyari in several areas on Thursday and demanded to end the combat. A private TV channel, however, claimed that the police has made no gains in the area and was still occupying position that it overtook on the first day of the operation. It said that police moves a few hundred years into the narrow lanes and when fired upon by the miscreant, it returns back and the area once again is taken over by the criminals. Meanwhile at least two persons were killed and several others injured in separate incidents of violence in other localities of the city on Friday.
According to police, unknown armed men shot and injured a man in Sector 5E of New Karachi. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
In another incident of violence, a man was shot dead in firing by an unidentified criminal in Qasba Colony.
Meanwhile, some miscreants set ablaze a bus near Mochi More in Saeedabad area. Rescue teams reached the spot and extinguished the fire. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
Furthermore, firing continued in different areas of the city during which more than 10 persons were reported injured. The wounded persons were shifted to different hospitals for treatment.

Look whenever PPP went into trouble MQM cries for an operation in PPP, ANP and JI dominated areas and PPP led government sccumbed to the pressure and pretend to do an operation (No gang busted till now in last 04 years). Police and rangers marches in the streets and occasioaly killed low ranked or bistanders to get political gains from MQM. People of the area including Zulfiqar Mirza think that Nabeel Gabool and Rafiq Engineer are behind this operation.
    Yes there must be a thorough opaeration in all areas of Karachi and every criminal should brought to the task without politicising it. This fake and FARMAISHI operation is not acceptable.
