The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought a reply from the federal government over the enforcement of Urdu as a national language in the government departments.
As the court began hearing in the case, the petitioner submitted that Urdu is Pakistan’s national language but it has not been used as the official language, which is a violation of the constitution.
The Punjab government submitted in its reply that the enforcement of Urdu as a national language is the responsibility of the federal government.
At this, the court gave a three-week notice to the federal government to submit its reply.
