All but seven to return to parent depts

The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday accepted the verbal excuse of Sindh Chief Secretary Raja Muhammad Abbas for not complying with the apex court’s orders in the case of officers posted on deputation.
The apex court also directed Abbas to present the original list of officers posted on deputation in different departments of the provincial government despite the court’s orders. Abbas and other officers concerned appeared before the two-member bench of Justices Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Amir Hani Muslim.
They submitted a list of 316 officers of the provincial government who were posted on deputation, saying that barring seven officers, everyone on the list is being sent back to their parent department.
It is pertinent to mention here that on Wednesday, the Sindh government had presented a list of 205 officers on deputation.
Osmany said that the original list of officers is in the office of the chief secretary and the relevant information is not being disclosed before the court.
Abbas told the bench that Sindh Irrigation Secretary Babar Hussain, Karachi Water & Sewerage Board Managing Director Misbahuddin Faridi, Hyderabad Development Authority Director General Ghulam Muhammad, Sindh Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director Manzoor Ahmed Kanasro, as well as Ghulam Mustafa, Zia Bhutto and Rahim Bakhsh are the seven officers who could not be sent back to their parent departments due to their importance in their respective departments.
However, arrangements are being made to send them back to their parent departments, the chief secretary added.
