Wife gets man booked for ‘desecrating’ Holy Quran

Okara police on Thursday registered a case against a man for tearing and desecrating the holy Quran in the limits of Saddar police station, sources said. Neelam, wife of Shahabud Din, resident of Noorabad, reported to police that she married Shahab two years ago and had one child with him. She said her husband was a drug addict and unemployed and had no house and she was living at her father’s house with him. Neelam said she reciting the Holy Quran on Wednesday when her husband became outraged and snatched the Holy Quran from her hands and tore it into pieces and desecrated it. She said her husband was now giving her threats of killing her. Police registered a first information report (FIR) under Section 295-B and started investigation.
