In a bid to go ahead with reforms in FATA, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, through its Law Minister Barrister Arshad Abdullah, submitted a resolution in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Thursday.
The resolution is likely to be put on the agenda in the assembly on Friday.
Sources told Pakistan Today that through the resolution, the provincial government had demanded representation for the tribesmen in the provincial assembly. In this respect, it stressed for legislation regarding FATA through the national and provincial assemblies instead of issuing presidential promulgation orders.
Through this resolution, the provincial government demanded an extension of judiciary to FATA and giving rights and privileges to tribesmen like to the people in the rest of the country.
The resolution already enjoys the backing of almost all political forces having representation in the provincial assembly.
FATA MP’s and the rest of the tribesmen are divided over the future of FATA.
Some of them demand an independent provincial status for FATA, while some of them demand its merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
