Imperial gene

“London: Four in Britian charged with terror offences.” Who can dare to find faults with such a simple and commonly believed sentence from the police and that of London, too?

I shall try my luck for the London police-patronage trumps policy sentence that this has a gamblers’ luck.

“British terror suspects are being held in condition condemned as barbaric by British government’s medical experts and described by lawyers who have visited them as ‘concrete coffins’, claims that the detainees – not convicted of any offence – have been denied access to lawyers and had their basic rights violated come as police and MI5 were drawing up plans for fresh arrests.” So wrote Martin Bright, Jason Burke and Burhan Wazir as read on 23-1-2002 in a newspaper article.

Months after 9/11, the sudden appearance of concrete coffins for terror suspects in London was not possible without an imperial gene.

“There are 10,300 Muslim prisoners in UK, of whom less than one percent have been convicted so far,” a news item in a newspaper read on 9-6-10. Oh, the god of concrete coffins!
