In the ongoing process of sidelining former law minister Babar Awan from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), the party leadership on Tuesday decided to take away his last official post within the party folds. The party leadership has decided to replace Awan with Rukhsana Bangash on his current post of secretary finance of the PPP. Awan’s name has also been removed from the party’s website and he is no longer a member of the party’s Central Executive Committee. PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has also issued orders to remove the camp office which was stationed at Awan’s residence. The former law minister has sent back the security convoy of the Rangers and the police and also returned his bullet-proof car to the Establishment Division.
Meanwhile, Awan’s brother Farooq Awan, who was working as a special adviser to the prime minister, has also submitted his resignation to the prime minister. Babar Awan had drawn the ire of the PPP leadership ever since his refusal to appear before the Supreme Court to testify in the contempt of court hearing against Prime Minister Gilani. Gilani’s lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan had asked the court to summon three key witnesses in the case – including Awan and two high-ranking bureaucrats. However, Awan was reported to have promptly refused to appear – despite many saying that his testimony would have made the prime minister’s case stronger. President Zardari has also rejected an apology by the former law minister for not supporting the PM in court. Meanwhile, Online reported that Awan had also sought a personal audience with the president in a letter in order to remove “the misunderstandings”. In his letter, the former law minister expressed solidarity and loyalty with the PPP but President Zardari refused to meet him at all.

  1. Political parties in Pakistan are personal fiefdoms where disagreement with the leader is not taken lightly. Loyalty to the leader is the only criteria. Babar Awan by being disloyal to Mr. Asif Zardari has earned it for himself. This is called the revenge of democracy.

  2. It could also be a ploy; giving false impression to the superior judiciary that even we have disowned this man and therefore you should be sympathetic with him.

  3. What goes up, must come down 🙂 Love it. nawaz sharif should spend some of his ill gotten wealth and try to buy awan's loyality. We all know he is for sale or atleast for rent 🙂

  4. VERY DEPLORABLE TO HEAR THE DICTATORSHIP ATTITUDE OF PPP HIGH COMMANDS,AFTERALL THE PPPP IS THE GANG OF KINGS OF KINGS OF DICTATORS AND THIS PARTY IS NOT DEMOCRATIC.WE CONDEMN THE HARSH AND EXTREMIST BEHAVIOUR WITH ITS MEMEBERS IS VERY SHAMEFUL.THAT IS ITS LEADERS DO NOT CARE,RESPECT THE VIEWS OF OPPOSITION.FUEDALISTS,WADAIRAS SARDARISM,CHAUDHRYISM AND KHANISM MURDABAD.SHAME AND SHIT ON DICTATARSHIP MINDS.

  5. He should join PTI ….that is how he would get clean chit…like Javed Hashmi, qabza group of Lahore and Qureshi..!

  6. Pakistan Pepoles Party is not a public party as it is a Personnal and real estate agency owns by fuedalist of Larkana.the public has seen the outcme of this party. If any member skeaks agaisnt,he is thrown away from the party.now the people knows the nature of that pary.be aware and be alert frpm this party..The public has seen the result by kicking awan.

  7. Mr.ashiq hussain …awan sab will and should re-join plm-n ,it was his mother party…so why pmln consider itself the only Angle ..hahaha

  8. Awan should join the tablegi jam mat and use his exceptional oratory skills for noble causes.

  9. I was surprised to read the protection Mr .Babar Awan was under! Have the tax payers (if any) have the right to ask how much did it cost? The Govt. is expected to lead by example. I live in a country where the PM uses the public transport.

    • they think they do not pay, but pay though each and every single bill and whatever they buy in market, even if they dodge and hide income, down side of indirect taxing, this also tax the poor men!

  10. its ironic, he was hero of PPP when he openly taunt and flout Supreme Court he was right in saying "kuj na hilya".. but when he disobey the masters, everything shaken for him! So current govt love who doesnt respect law, and if they do for any reason, they are not liked!

  11. Awan should go back to his old days of candy selling in moving trains. His stature is of a small man who aimed at big things that were beyond his capacity as well as his capability.Zardari should confiscate his wealth all of which is ill-gotten like his own.

  12. Babar Awan should be given a chance to respond that why he would not appeared before the court while while PM-Lawyer called him at the SC and why the SC did not called him directly if SC suppose to think that he was truly responsible to misguided the PM.
After all No one can stopped SC if they might be convicted the Babar Awan as a lawyer of PM.instead of PM. May be something also going on behind these stories. That is the reason and it is my personal feeling that Babar Awan should be given a chance to listen his version, after all he is a good think tank of PPP

  13. Well Babar Awan looted enough money for his next 5 generations. He was never loyal to PPP, he used to gave speeches against PPP in Ijaz ul Haq rallies.
