The Punjab Paramedical Alliance protested in front of the CM’s house at Club Chowk and organised a hunger strike camp on Wednesday.
Many office bearers of the alliance led scores of paramedics of grade four.
They reminded the chief minister of his promise made with the lower paramedical staff and demanded that the chief secretary and health secretary issue notifications for the revision of service structure of the grade four paramedics.
They said the bureaucrats were not willing to implement the CM’s order and that some employees had been compelled to make suicide attempts.
They said Wednesday’s events were the beginning of a series of protests and that rallies will next be held in all the divisional centres.
They stated that the paramedics will suspend services, except in the emergency wards. The paramedics also announced that they will observe a black day on May 12 and said they will go on a prolonged strike if the government did not accept their demands.
