Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Munawar Hasan has condemned the police firing on the JI relief team in Lyari, Karachi and demanded an end to the police operation.
In a statement here on Tuesday, he said that Lyari had virtually become a battle field for the last several days. The citizens there had been forced to remain indoors, supply of water and electricity had been suspended and there was shortage of food stuffs. The people were highly perturbed and harassed. Hasan said the JI relief team consisted of people from all walks of life including the former Karachi Mayor Neimatullah Khan and JI Karachi chief Muhammad Husain Mehnati. The team carried eatables and medicines to Lyari, however, they were subjected to severe firing by police which caused stampede resulting in the injuries to several women. The relief team was stopped by force which was most criminal and cruel.
He said, the besieged people included aged and small children who badly needed milk and food but the cruel administrative authorities were not allowing food and medicines. The JI ameer further said that in Lyari, an attempt was being made to crush the people by force which would only worsen the situation. Firing was continuing and heavy arms were being used freely. He counseled the rulers to see reason and find out an immediate solution to the situation realizing its gravity. He also directed the JI workers and leaders to continue relief work for the affected people and hoped that the rulers wont create hurdles in the relief work.

  1. JI has gone from bad to worse in their selection of its head. You can compare yourselved after Maulana Maududi, it was:
    1) Mian Tufail. (Dictator Zia fame).
    2) Qazi Hussain (Zalmo Qazi Aa Raha Hai Fame).
    3) Incubment Munawwar (I can think of any single reference to attribute, since his all statements and actions are full of stupidity)
