Scientists worked tirelessly to make country nuclear power: Dr Samar

Renowned nuclear scientist and founding chairman of NESCOM, Dr Samar Mubarakmand said our experienced scientists worked tirelessly to make Pakistan an atomic power and prevented India from launching any offensive campaign against our national security. He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the annual reunion of Old Hailians Association, Islamabad-Rawalpindi chapter at a local hotel.
Chief Patron of the Association, former Finance Minister Sartaj Aziz, President, Abdullah Yousaf, General Secretary, Javed Panni, Khawaja Amjad Saeed and Col (r) M Asif Khan also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the meritorious services of Hailians for the development and prosperity of the country. Dr Samar said only those nations could live with respect and dignity which strengthened their economy alongside the defence sector. He added that the graduates of the Hailey College of Commerce played a pivotal role in making the country economically strong and viable.
He said after the nuke tests, there is a need to take the country forward and to ensure its prosperous future.
Talking about the natural resources of Balochistan province, he said there were deposits of coal, gas, gold and copper and asked the government to allocate funds for exploring these resources.
Dr Samar informed the audience that cheap electricity could be provided after the gasification of Thar coal reserves.
Former Finance minister, Sartaj Aziz said the reunion provided the graduates of the Hailey College with an opportunity to interact with each other.
In his welcome address, Abdullah Yousaf said the annual programme was a bid to create a positive spirit among the youth of the country.
He said the Hailey College produced several leaders, including Sartaj Aziz, Ishaq Dar and Jehangir Badar.
Secretary General Javed Panni presented annual reports and thanked the chief guest and other participants.
At the end, Dr Samar, Sartaj Aziz and Abdullah Yousaf distribted awards among the Hailians, including Mian Muhammad Iftikhar, Irfan Dar, Akhtar Yaseen, Riaz Tahir and Attique Ahmed for excellence in various fields.
