Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Monday directed the Quetta police to recover three men who went missing from the city within two days.
A three-judge bench headed by the CJP was hearing a case pertaining to law and order in Balochistan at Quetta’s Supreme Court Registry. The CJP ordered police officials to recover and present people who had gone missing from Jinnah town and Shalkot until Wednesday, warning them that otherwise they would be held accountable.
He lamented that the situation could not be controlled if ministers were involved in cases of abduction.
Balochistan Advocate General Amanullah Kunrani submitted a list of missing persons from Balochistan. The CJP instructed the AG to ask the Balochistan chief secretary to hold meetings with officials of law enforcement agencies to get information about the whereabouts of the missing persons. He said the information to be provided by these stakeholders be submitted on May 2.
During the hearing, Justice Khilji Arif Hussian said the deteriorating law and order was Pakistan’s issue, not United States’.
