British High Commission wants England team to visit Pakistan

British High Commissioner in Pakistan Adam Thomson on Friday said that he wished England cricket team to visit Pakistan. Talking to media at the Birthday ceremony of Queen Elizabeth in Karachi, Thomson hoped that the England team would visit Pakistan soon.
“One day not far away it will happen,” he said. The High Commissioner said that it was wrong perception that Pakistan only faces political turmoil and terrorism adding that the country possesses a wonderful cultural and social heritage. It is to be mentioned here that soon after attacks on Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore the international cricket was suspended in the country where people are enthusiastic about cricket and its players.
Pakistan were on the verge of hosting international cricket at the Gaddafi Stadium this month when Bangladesh were agreed to play one Twenty20 and One-dayer at the end of this month. But the Bangladesh team’s scheduled tour of Pakistan later this month was postponed a week back after some natives and former players filed a writ petition in the court asserting that it was not safe for the team to tour Pakistan.
The PCB said that its legal advisors studied the writ petition filed in the court and believed it lacked merit and had been filed against public interest which would be unfavourable to the game of cricket.
